Lalit Kumar is the Founding Director and senior teacher of Himalaya Yoga Valley Centre. He has over 15 years experience teaching nationally and internationally. Yogacharya Lalit uses an Ashtanga inspired series, derived from the Ashtanga Primary Series, as a consistent and solid foundation from which students can develop their individual teaching style. With his background as an Iyengar student Lalit places strong emphasis on correcting alignment and maintaining integrity in asana as both a trainee and teacher. LEVEL ONE YOGA TEACHER TRAINING:
Our 200 Hour Teacher Training Course delivers a comprehensive, theoretical and practical hands-on training program. Trainees emerge from our TTC as confident teachers with a strong and solid teaching skill set ready to begin their career. Our curriculum is developed from the Yoga Alliance 200 Hour Teacher Training Standards and has developed and been shaped by our experience training teachers. Our curriculum includes the following:
•Asana techniques including identification of common misalignments, including training and practice in Bandhas, Pranayama, Kriyas, chanting and meditation
•Yoga philosophy of Eight Limbs of Ashtanga and Raja Yoga and Yoga Sutras
•Anatomy and Physiology including chakras, mudras, nadis and health benefits of yoga
•Ethics for Yoga Teachers
•Yoga Business Management
•Introduction to Ayurveda
•Teaching Methodology including sequencing, adjusting , teaching standards, and teacher and learner styles

LEVEL TWO YOGA TEACHER TRAINING
Himalaya Yoga Valleys 500hr program is regarded within the yoga field to be one of the most innovative and transformation advanced training courses existing for teachers looking to take their personal practice, teaching skills and specialist knowledge to the next level. The level 2 course is unique to Himalaya Yoga Valley in its concept, wherein teachers have the opportunity to undertake an optional Elective Unit which enables them to develop a body of knowledge and portfolio around a specialized area of yoga they are interested in pursuing within a supportive and expert environment. Teachers delve into their chosen area and build up a body of knowledge, becoming fully informed and practically, taking the knowledge into the business development realm and right down to the yoga mat when delivering the final practicums related to the area of specialization.
Examples have been; Yoga for Depression, Yoga for the 12 Steps, Yoga for the Dosha, Yoga for Chronic Pain and Yoga for Teens.
Syllabus includes advanced level study in the following areas;
-Asana: self practice, teaching practice, physical adjustments, alignment, advanced asana workshops
-Anatomy & Physiology of the anatomical and pranic body
-Pranayama, Chanting and Meditation
-Teaching skills and communication techniques
-Teaching and physical adjustment practicums
-Individual research area of specialization
In parallel, a strong emphasis is placed on learning advanced teaching techniques and at the same time developing personal practice. The 300h training is an all-encompassing program. Teachers come to the program as teachers, and the expectation is that they will being with them their real life teaching experience to enrich their own progress as well as their training peer. On completion of the Level 2 Teacher Training, a 500h certificate is awarded. The training is recognized by Yoga Alliance UK and Yoga Alliance USA.
Now that you have that strong Level 1, 200 HR foundation as a yoga teacher, in the advanced training you build on that foundation in a more creative and less linear way. The additional 300 hour training is structured with integrity to ensure you are not rushed or time burdened yet still constantly stimulated by challenging, creative and relevant learning outcomes. A strong emphasis will be placed on deepening your personal practice during the training under Yogacharya Lalits guidance.

Cork is a small, historical city that is home to some of Ireland’s best restaurants, traditional Irish music and culture and beautiful architecture. Our busy city centre Centre boasts two large studios which delivers quality yoga to a wide range of students. Our team of established and excellent yoga teachers have all been trained by Yogacharaya Lalit and are all Graduates of Himalaya Yoga Valley Teacher Training and carry forward the best of traditional yoga to the community; the ethos that yoga is for everybody.
Goa Residential Training and Retreat Centre:
Himalaya Yoga Valley Centre is located in the area of Mandrem, which is a small local community in the municipality of Pernem North Goa. The local community is centred around traditional farming land and fishing. The community maintains its local charm, peace and tranquility despite increased tourism in the past several years. Himalaya Yoga Valley is well known and established within the community, having been here for the past 10 years and the locals always have a warm welcome for our yoga trainees and Retreat guests. Mandrem beach village is approximately 10 minute walk from the Centre and boasts a beautiful long sandy beach on the Arabian sea. The gentle glow of the early sunrises and the evening sunsets on the Arabian Sea are memorable.
