Take your study and practice of Iyengar yoga to the capital city of India, experiencing the rich culture and history of Delhi, while exploring the benefits of this practice. Here at the Iyenger Yoga Centre Yogakshema, we are setting the standard for the new age of yoga studios. No detail was left behind when planning the creation of this space, the golden proportion of Egyptian principle was applied to the unique architecture of the building which is elevated from the earth with stilts. We have every prop used in the Iyengar tradition, in the beautiful hardwood floor yoga room. We also have a library with many books on a wide range of Yogic topics.
At Yogakshema our lead instructor is extremely dedicated to BKS Iyengar and the practice he has developed, in fact so much she owes her ability to walk to him! Nivedita Joshi was in a wheel chair when she landed in the famous institute in Pune, she had lost all ability to move her hands and legs from cervical spondylosis. After only one year she was walking on her own again, after this miraculous recovery her life dedication and passion became yoga.
Our courses are categorized into semesters, 3 months in duration, with 3 different levels from beginner to advanced. After completion of the 3 month course, one must first pass an exam of both the understanding of the subject matter and the level of practice. We are also honored to have the permission of BKS to certify Iyengar Yoga Instructors here at our center. These candidate must be regular students of Miss Nivedita Joshi or any certified Iyengar teacher for 3 years consecutively.
