Welcome to the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Meenakshi Ashram. We offer an ongoing 2-week Yoga Vacation program as well as various specialized courses. We follow the ancient discipline of yoga practise as taught by Sri Swami Vishnudevananda, our founder, one of the foremost disciples of Sri Swami Sivananda of Rishikesh.
The 2-week Yoga Vacation lecture schedule and classes for complete beginners start on 1st and 16th of each month, all year round. Guests who are completely new to Yoga or who have no experience of ashram life or of the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centres/Ashrams are requested to stay for the full 2 weeks in order to fully benefit.
In addition to the Yoga Vacation program we offer training courses such as Teachers Training Courses (TTC), Advanced Teachers Training Courses (ATTC) and Sadhana Intensive (SI). For course information, please visit http://sivananda.org/courses.
The Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Meenakshi Ashram was founded in 2002. Meenakshi is the name of the divine mother who is in the presiding deity of the most famous temple in Madurai city. The ashram is nestled within 12 acres of natural beauty and lies inside a natural forest approximately, 20 km north of the holy city Madurai in the state of Tamil Nadu.
The peaceful forest surroundings, the panoramic views along with the adjacent lotus pond offer an ideal setting for yogic practices. The neighbouring wild forests homes peacocks, deer, many varieties of birds and butterflies.
