Welcome to the AyurYoga Eco Ashram
AyurYoga Eco Ashram is located in a small rural village just 35km from Mysore. The ashram is situated on 20 acres of fertile agricultural land and on the banks of River Kabini. We are surrounded by panoramic views of hills and fields providing students with the perfect surroundings for their spiritual retreats and trainings. Our extensive land means there is plenty of space to grow veggies and fruits, swim in the river and enjoy the rare and peaceful surroundings.
We have 18 wooden cottages built throughout the land. All cottages are designed for maximum air and light and have private balconies, solar heated hot showers and western toilets.
We provide a healthy and very tasty sattvic vegetarian diet using only quality produce and in time we will grow our own produce on the land. Clean filtered drinking water is provided at all times.
The ashram is a continual project and we hope to one day have 1008 sacred herbal trees and one day a sacred forest 10,008 ayurvedic trees. We will continue to develop the residential and training facilities with additional meditation halls, media centres, additional yoga halls and dining spaces, landscaping and much more. We would love all of our students to be part of this exciting project, we are not owned by any organisation but by passionate yogis so we welcome volunteers.
The main yoga hall is a beautiful circular open air hall situated on the riverside. We provide Yoga Teacher Trainings, Yoga and Ayurveda Immersions and offer retreats on different topics such as art, reiki and many more.
All our teachers are monks or spiritual teachers with many years of experience in teaching students from all around the world.
We evaluate each student individually and respect their requirements during every course. While enlightenment is not what we promise, we teach yoga and meditation that can be used every day.

About our Yoga Style:
Traditional Hatha Yoga is based on the principles of harmonizing body-mind-breath as taught in Hatha Yoga Pradipika. Ultimate goal of traditional hatha yogins is to transcend the five layers of personality that forms the illusion of Small Self (ego), while you are on your journey to explore your true Self which is immortal-consicious-bliss. A Hatha Yogi wants to master and transcend the body-breath-mind-intellect-happiness and not to entangle in them more, as promised by modern forms of yoga. Thereby a seeker is freed from all misery caused by five layers and free to experience Truth directly, without the need of any books, religions, or gurus.
To say this in simple words for beginners: we give more importance why you are doing a certain pose or practice, rather than making you put up in a great alignments or asana or some kind of yoga. Example: we might ask you why do you want to do headstand and make you think about the answer. When you clear about that, we can ask you: are you really getting that benefit by doing this? Are there any other ways to get the same benefit in much easier and smarter way, rather than doing this pose in expectation of getting some benefit sometime in the future? So, traditional Hatha Yoga is all about exploring yourself and your ego through your body-breath-mind-intellect-happiness!
So, traditional hatha yoga is about finding 'what our I' (that includes body) really needs, rather than doing something because it looks good! People of all ages and all types of bodies/minds can practise this and traditional hatha yoga is highly customizable as per person/time/weather/diet/lifestyle.
