Bikram Yoga is a form of Hatha Yoga developed by Bikram Choudhury. Practiced by millions worldwide, this style is taught in the form of 26 postures spanning 90 minutes. It is systematically designed to work every aspect of the body including; the internal organs, all of the veins, all of the ligaments, and every muscle.
Bikram yoga is always practiced in a yoga studio heated to 105 degrees F, in order to facilitate a body wide change. The theory is that before changing the body it must be warmed up, this way it can be made more malleable in order to restore proper alignment, increase flexibility and detoxification through the sweat ducts. Additionally, this form of yoga strengthens and tones the muscles mass in order to combat common ailments such as arthritis, back pain, and weakness.
Bikram is a practice that is open to yogic practitioners of all ages and levels of ability and experience or levels of health. Due to the warming of the body, Bikram prevents injuries even in older practitioners with little to no experience or with a physical or mental illness. To quote Bikram, “It\'s never too late, it\'s never too bad, and you\'re never too old or too sick to start from scratch once again.”
Here at our location in Mumbai, our center and all of our instructors are certified from the Bikram Yoga College of India. We are proud to uphold the standards of Bikram Yoga for Mumbai. All interested are encouraged to join us in this extremely beneficial practice.
