Power Yoga is Delhi Dance Academy’s newest addition and we started it from August at our Amar Colony, Lajpat Nagar studio and our students have given highly positive feedback on its effects. If you’re looking for the benefits of yoga coupled with some serious physical exercise for weight-loss and muscle gain then power yoga is the right fitness workout for you.
Just like Zumba is a more advanced and improvised form of aerobics, similarly power-yoga is an improvised form of traditional yoga as we know it in India. It is also known as gym yoga and is for those who aren’t really satisfied with just the stretching and breathing exercises that traditional or vinyasa/ashtanga yoga offers, we have now brought what’s a rage in the west – Power Yoga. Power yoga consists of “asanas” that are harder, help in building muscle and reduce weight. Power yoga isn’t completely different from the traditional Indian yoga, it is just a more advanced version.
Although Birch and Kest are popularly believed to have brought power yoga to the west after learning it from Shri Krishna Pattabhi Jois, every teacher has his/her own style of teaching power yoga.
