Located in the tranquil, forested suburb of Dehradun (also known Old Rajpur) in the lower Himalayas, the Yog-Ganga Centre for Yoga Studies is dedicated to providing traditional teachings that develop a comprehensive understanding of the ancient art of Yoga.
Our style is in line with that of renowned Yoga-masters Yogacharya B.K.S. Iyengar, Srimati Geeta Iyengar and Sri Prashant Iyengar. The founders and teachers of our centre have both been practicing yoga for close to 30 years and each have a variety of reputable achievements and global experience that they bring to you in the yoga studio.
The centre consists of a well-equipped Yoga hall, change rooms, a library and a venue for lectures and demonstrations. Surrounding the thoughtfully landscaped gardens of the centre are the majestic mountains of the Himilayas which not only provide the perfect setting for discovering and practicing Yoga, but are also popular for hiking, white water rafting and mountaineering on free days.
A variety of study options are on offer whether it be general classes, which are ongoing, short courses or a 3 week intensive course. We offer classes for children and remedial classes as well as lectures on Indian philosophy and Ayurveda. A typical day during an intensive course would consist of a 2 hour morning asana practice and a 2 hour evening pranayama practice or lecture. On the evening prior to the commencement of our intensive courses we hold an orientation event to form a community with students and clarify their understanding of training ahead. This is an example of just one event that is held at our centre as we often hold special cultural events to mark important occasions throughout the year.
Our center is located in the beautiful and quiet suburbs of Dehradun. Surrounded by forest in the foothills of the Himalayas, we provide the settings to experience the powerful healing benefits of Iyengar Yoga. The campus includes a spacious 1,500 square foot yoga hall, a library, a place for lectures and talks on philosophies, changing rooms, and a reception area.
Here at the Yog-Ganga Centre for Yoga Studies we proudly follow the lineage of the renowned Yogacharya BKS Iyengar, all our activities are monitored by the main Iyengar center located in Pune. Our main instructors and founders are husband and wife duo, Swati and Rajiv Chanchani, long time Yoga practitioners with a passion to share the practice with children. They have taught nationally and internationally at many schools and have published a book called, Yoga for Children.
